The language of Messenger can be changed by changing the language on your Facebook account, as shown below:
The Facebook Settings section allows you to change the language of Messenger.
The display language in the new and old Facebook interfaces can be modified so that the language of Messenger changes as well by following the steps below.

At the top of the Facebook account screen, tap the down arrow icon. If the user is using the traditional Facebook interface, select the Settings option; If the user is using the new Facebook interface, select the “Settings and privacy” option, then the “Settings” option.
Select the language and region from the drop-down list. Select Edit from the dropdown menu next to Choose a Facebook language.
Change the language of Messenger to the language of your choice.
Select the option to save changes.
note:
Changing the Facebook language on one device does not affect the account language on other devices. If you change the language of Facebook on your computer, it does not mean that you should change the language of Facebook on your phone. Instead, the language of each device must be modified independently.
Change the language of the Messenger through the Facebook news menu
Using what's known as a news feed, you can change the language of Facebook, which changes the display language in Messenger, by following the instructions below:
Open the user's Facebook News Feed page.
Select the language the user wants to switch to.
Select Change language from the drop-down menu.

Anyone's Facebook account is usually displayed in the language they use on their phone, here are the steps to change the language on Facebook.
Using the Facebook iPhone app, change the language of Messenger:
On the user's phone, open the Facebook app.
Log in to the account for which you want to change the language. On the program screen, tap on the three lines icon (☰)
In the iPhone app, select the “Settings & Privacy” option, then the “App Language” option.
Choose the (language) you want to use on Facebook.
To switch to the language you'd like to use on Facebook, select the option.
How to change the language of Messenger with Android
Here are the processes for changing the language of Facebook which leads to changing the language of Messenger and using the Facebook app on Android phones:
On your phone, open the Facebook app. Log in to the user's Facebook account, then click the three lines (☰) icon in the application interface.
Select the language from the dropdown list, then select the language in which the user would like to update the Facebook interface.
